SHSC Programs

Fall Academy

Fall Academy is open to players of all skill levels from age 4 to 6 (U5-U7). Players are trained “academy style,” which means they are trained in larger groups and with more emphasis on basic fundamental skills and player development. Professional and volunteer coaches train players by utilizing repetitive training techniques that are proven to help young players develop a certain confidence and a comfort level with the ball. Training sessions are held twice per week and will be 1 hour long. Saturdays are game day. Players split into teams and demonstrate their newly acquired skills and their competitiveness in small-sided games. The Fall Academy season will run for 8 consecutive weeks (Early Sept- Oct.) and will play 7 Saturday (Labor Day off) game days. Participants in the Fall Academy will be taught basic fundamental skills and coordination needed to have future success in the game of soccer. Improving Ball mastery, learning the basic principals of the game and enjoying the soccer experience is the main goal of the SHSC Fall Academy. Practices and games are held on local fields.

Jr Rev Academy

The Jr Rev Academy is open to players with intermediate to high skill level looking for advanced training required for higher competitive teams and leagues. The Jr. Rev Academy is offered outside of the fall soccer season typically in the Spring and Summer for ages 4 to 11 (U5-U12). The Jr Rev academies typically run 5 to 6 weeks and are run “academy style,” which means they are trained in larger groups with more emphasis on basic fundamental skills, advanced techniques/tricks and player development. Many Jr Rev Academy participants are preparing to join Revolution and Revolution Development teams. Training sessions may be held at local fields, school gyms and indoor facilities.

Small-sided/Mod Recreational

The Small-sided/Mod program is open to players of all skill levels from age 7 to 9 (U8-U10). Players are placed on teams and they compete on smaller fields with fewer players on each team. This increases playing time and increases the number of touches players have on the ball. After registration, the SHSC registrar and Recreational Director will place players on teams and the club will appoint volunteer/parent coaches. The SHSC Coaching Director will help educate all small-sided coaches to ensure they are giving players the proper instruction. Please contact the club if you are interested in coaching with the SHSC. The small-sided season runs from August-November. Some well organized teams may participate in Jamborees during the late summer. Practices and games are held within close proximity to the local area.

Recreational

The Recreational program is open to player of all skill levels from age 10 to 18 (U11-U19). Players are placed on teams and compete on age-appropriate sized fields. The teams compete against similarly skilled teams within the region. There are various leagues to choose from depending on the competitive level of the team. The Director of Coaching assists with league placement. The Recreational season typically runs late August through October/November. Some well organized teams may participate in summer tournaments chosen by the coach and parents. Recreational are volunteer/parent coaches. Some of these coaches may be trained and licensed. SHSC has recreational teams that just want to play the game in a fun less competitive way while other may seek more advanced leagues. A post season state-wide tournaments may also be an option. Most games are local, but some may be regional.

Revolution – Select/Premier

The Revolution program is open to higher-skilled players from age 10-20 (U11-U20). Players are selected through a formal “try-out” process held in April or May. Multiple teams may be created at each age group and players may be moved between teams. The Revolution teams are coached by professional, trained and licensed coaches with prior playing and/or coaching experience. Revolution teams compete in regional, Washington and sometimes out-of-state tournaments during the summer. The tournaments are fun and allow the coaches to evaluate the competitive level of the team in order to place the team in the appropriate Fall League and Division. Most Revolution teams will compete in a state-wide, post-season tournaments. Some will participate in indoor leagues. The Revolution teams practice and play year-round with several breaks.

Revolution Development

The Revolution Development program is open to intermediate- to higher-skilled players from ages 8 and 9 (U9-U10). “Rev Dev” teams are formed through formal tryout and informal trainings. Many players may be identified in the Jr Rev Academies and Small-Sided program. These players are seeking advanced skills training with professional, trained and licensed coached with prior playing and/or coaching experience. Like the Revolution teams, Dev teams compete in regional tournaments/Jamborees during the summer. The tournaments are fun and allow the coaches to evaluate the competitive level of the team in order to place the team in the appropriate Fall League and Division. Some Rev Dev teams will compete in a state-wide, post-season tournaments. Some will participate in indoor leagues. The Revolution teams practice and play year-round with several breaks.
