Greg was born in Tacoma, WA and played youth soccer in the WSYSA system. Greg attended Franklin Pierce H.S. and later moved on to Stetson University and Oregon State University. He has been playing professionally for the last 9 years after beginning his professional career with the Seattle Sounders in 2000. In addition to playing, he has been actively involved in coaching for the past 10 years.
Greg began playing professionally outdoor with the Sounders and then moved on to play for the Portland T
imbers, Rochester (NY) Rhinos and the Milwaukee Wave United. Greg also played 8 professional indoor seasons with Milwaukee Wave of the MISL. During his 8 year playing career, he had over 16 seasons of professional playing experience, which also included 11 CAPS with the US National Futsal team. During his outdoor career, his achievements include one team championship (Sounders 2007), awards as Top Goal Scorer, Assist leader and three All-League selections. While playing indoor in Milwaukee Greg became one of the most prolific scorers in indoor history. He was named League Most Valuable Player 3 times, lead the league in goals and assists 3 and 4 times respectively. All while making 6 finals appearances and winning 2 league titles. His futsal experiences are equally impressive. While helping the US team to their first CONCACAF Gold Medal in Costa Rica, he also went on the represent the United States in the FIFA Futsal World Championships in China Taipei in 2004. Most recently he has played some professional matches in PASL Pro indoor league with the California Cougars as well as being player/coach of the US National Arena Soccer team.
Greg has been involved with coaching for the last ten years. First beginning while in college through various camps, then with camp directing and team trainings through his professional and youth teams. Along with his Director of Coaching duties with the SHSC, Greg also is the current Head Coach of the Tacoma Stars and the assistant coach of the US National Team. Along with his great knowledge and experiences from playing and coaching, Greg also brings with him the youthfulness and energy that made him such an outstanding youth player as well as professional.
While much of Greg’s life has been dedicated to playing and coaching soccer, he has many other interests. He says golf is his first love for sport, but he just happened to be much better at soccer. When not golfing in the summer, he enjoys short/long road trips on his H-D motorcycle. When the cold weather hits the NW he finds his way to the slopes and enjoys snowboarding.
