GHS Academy of Excellence is a complete Player development program aimed at all aspects of player development.  Goal Scoring, Defending, Goal keeping,  team academy’s and developmental level camps will be offered throughout the year.  GHS will utilize  various training methods of soccer including outdoor, indoor, futsal along with soccer specific fitness, speed and agility training.

Academy of Excellence Director Greg Howes and GHS staff will continue to be a player based development program.  As a professional player Greg was fortunate to represent the United States National Teams, Earning CAPS with US National Futsal Team. Greg also trained with US National team and Head Coach Bruce Arena in preparation with 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Greg spent time with Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers.  Greg lead the Seattle Sounder to 2007 USL Division 1 Championship, while earning MVP for his 2 goal 1 assist effort in the championship game.  Greg also received Rookie of the Year in 2000 with the Sounders.  Over his  9 year professional outdoor and indoor career he was one of the most prolific goal scorers in US history. Over his 9 years he earned 6 scoring titles, 3 league MVPs, 4 League Championship title.  Over 9 years as a pro Greg had over 350 goals and 300 assists, Greg is one of the most decorated professional soccer players to come out the NW.  Greg is a local product and is giving back to the soccer community through various involvements with youth soccer. 

Greg Is a USSF "A" licensed coach with professional, club, youth and senior level team coaching experience.  Greg has recently worked as  head coach of the Tacoma Stars (PASL), Tacoma Tide (USL) and PASL National team.  As current Director of Coaching @ South Hill Soccer Club , Greg has a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer our area youth. The GHS Academy of Excellence is open to all players looking to reach their potential maximum on the soccer field. 

By utilizing outdoor, indoor and futsal training methods, GHS player development model includes all forms of technical training.  With his professional outdoor and indoor experience along with his world-wide exposure to futsal, the GHS Academy of Excellence is sure to deliver elements of the game that players have yet to be introduced  to.
