SHSC Junior Revolution Developmental Program
What is SHSC Junior Revolution Developmental program?
The Jr. Revolution Development Program is designed to provide year round training and competition options for kids ages 7 - 9. This is accomplished through various Revolution Academies and Camps held throughout the year. The program is aimed at developing soccer players that are competitive and looking for a more professional, formal training environment. Through the introduction of the program, SHSC has been able to form “select” SHSC Revolution Development Teams that play competitively throughout the region.
What are SHSC Revolution Development (Dev) Teams?
Through evaluation and placement by SHSC Jr. Revolution Director and Revolution Staff, players are placed on Dev teams of correct competitive levels. Players are evaluated throughout the year to monitor progress and competitive placement onto Boys and Girls U9 and U10 teams. These players receive licensed, experienced, professional year-round training, 2 playing seasons (Fall/Spring), summer tournaments, lighted fields and turf time for most winter training sessions. Teams do take breaks during winter and summer time.
What type of player is the SHSC Junior Revolution Program looking for?
The SHSC Jr. Revolution Development Program is looking for competitive young athletes who love soccer and have a desire develop their soccer skill to new heights. Through our program, our current Boys U9 team has become one of the top teams in the region. Identifying young players that have the competitive fire and are driven to be the best is goal of the program. The Jr. Rev program is more competitive than what you’ll find at the Recreational level or at other clubs’ U10 programs.
What is the time commitment for being a part of the program?
The SHSC Revolution Development Teams typically train twice a week, year round, except for the break periods during winter and summer. Break periods usually depend upon game schedules. During the Fall and Spring Seasons, games are once a week and played on the weekends.
Is there any travel involved with being on a Rev Development Team?
The SHSC Revolution Development Teams currently play their Fall and Spring season games in Renton, at the Starfire Sports Complex (Seattle Sounders training fields). Tournament locations vary and are primarily in the Puget Sound region.
What is the financial commitment involved in being a part of the program?
The fee for participating on Revolution Development teams, includes professional training year round, one uniform set (jersey, shorts and jacket), 3 tournaments or jamborees, field rental and lighted field rental, referee fees, a full Fall season and a full Spring season. Referees, Field and Player cards for all games are included in full Jr Rev team fees. SHSC Standardized Skills testing will also be done at the start of season and then quarterly to measure each player’s progress. Full Jr. Rev Dev team fees will be determined after teams are selected and individual team calendar is set. Team fee’s and approximate budgets will be discussed at tryouts. Cost variables are uniforms and equipment needs which vary for each player and new players. Teams may independently do other activities not covered by SHSC fee’s (indoor, Sounders games, etc.)
If my son or daughter is selected to be on a Revolution Development team, does the fee need to be paid in full, up front?
While SHSC has kept the fees as low as possible, we realize that it can still be difficult for some families. That is why the club offers a payment plan and gives the option of paying online with a credit card. The club also offers scholarships and is continually working on fundraising to help allow families and players to participate in the program. If your son or daughter is selected for a team and the fees are an issue, please contact the Director of the program.
If my son or daughter is not quite ready to be placed on a Revolution Development team, can they still be a part of the training?
The Jr. Revolution Development Program has a training only option, for those kids who are not quite ready to be placed on a Rev Development Team, or whose families are not ready for the commitment. For a low monthly fee, your child can attend training sessions along with the Development teams.
- SHSC Jr. Revolution Development Program also offers training academy sessions in the Winter and Spring.
Are there any additional benefits to being a part of the program?
The Full-time Jr. Rev families are eligible to receive discounts on other Jr. Rev Programs, camps and clinics. SHSC also offers sibling discounts for families with more than 1 player in the Jr. Rev Dev Team program.
When does the season start for the Revolution Development Teams?
The year-round season starts and ends in the middle of May. With the year round curriculum, players are constantly being evaluated and placed within the program through out the year.
